Chennai Purray: Natural disaster lessons

Stuck without force or Wi-Fi. This was my weak message while informing that I would not be able to post the column last week. In the flood I was trapped in Chennai. While watching the outside world video clips and news, the only environment and needs were related for those stuck in your house. There are many stories to say, but I will stick to some points with personal finance relevant relevance.

We are to collaborate and live as a community. Classes, privileges, inequalities and preferences like crisis do not make any idea. Even though some were hesitant to ask or communicate, everyone was attracted to help each other, especially when it was clear that no one was near to help and support. Food, water, milk and supply were shared. The elderly was given special care. When we grow up, we do not train or prepare for colleagues. We usually spend a good part of our lives as a person as a person and excellently, and our wealth is so private. However, a crisis is enough to show that the sharing is so important to you and others.

A lot of problems kill everyone. In good old days, our homes had a sand bag and a large stone in the rainy season. During the first sign of continuous rain and floods, the only Lo will be covered at home. It is easy to clean after the flood. At this time, roads and houses were related to the water of the gutters everywhere. It was easy to put things in the past. There was an attic in which everything was valuable. Now, there are many fridges that cannot be picked up; Air conditioning that cannot be removed; Cars that do not go electronic goods and water throughout the house. It was sad to see that millions of white items were wasted in one part of the flood.

Insurance lessons are learned and lost very quickly. Many people look at the insurance payment that does not give any benefit. No one seems to have no widespread insurance for their cars, houses and durable items where I live. Who can tell what can happen? How to know if the payment is beneficial? Why give money when we can’t get any benefits? These questions believe in the basic beliefs of insurance. Many did not believe that insurance companies have the skill to pay the premium based on potential, and forced to pay if genuine claims arise. After the flood of 2015, many confessed to buying insurance and then closing the premium as a waste.

Charging the phone was a priority for everyone. Connect, contact, help and take action. Many were relieved that their financial information was stored electronically. Those who used the Digilocker facilities were more happy. On the fourth floor, an 86-year-old gentleman was told to me that he expressed his gratitude to the digitalization of the financial market by losing a full bag of newly acquired Blue-Chip stock certificates in the 1970s. He remained quiet and stored, his little lifestyle did not need anything every day. I manage my finance in such a way that I am ready to go anytime, he told me. These words are my lessons from this disaster.

The ability to do good things and lost opportunities ruled many conversations. When the elevator dysfunctional was, many chose to stay in the house and complain about their lot. Some of us fits enough for the legs to go up and down. Why would people not seriously take their fitness? Is it not annoying if one cannot raise yourself from one place to another in a crisis? How will they come down if there is a fire? Why is it that someone is so prevalent, to help someone? I did not ask these questions to be rude, but I could not help you to think about things that we can do regularly to live in physical and economical size, so you did not lose in trouble. Each one convicted someone. The government did not properly plan or implement the storm water drains. Construction approval was contaminated and the buildings have come to the water bodies. The truth is that thousands of Chennai have bought homes on these plots. Their biggest property is their home. Or homes, if you do. At this time, investing property is a bad idea that I suggest that I have a risk of killing me. The circle of concern can increase to capture the world and its limits. However, the circle of control still is still in the field of what we do with your income, how much we save and where we invest those savings. Each crisis is the opportunity to test one’s property allocation. As the rains began, the Strongman magical appeared to be strongly connected and privileged for security before the floods. They went to their work mechanical ways. They or the defense did not disturb the other in their community. We accept privileges without question. In temples, airports, on the streets and in distress. We are heartfelt in the ruling while claiming to be democracy. In the middle class, when we are considering the questions raised here, the poor are left to start again. They lose whatever they are, and, therefore, lose food, last days, their homes, and there is no savings to bending, and if they do not get sick of poor sanitary conditions, they will come back to work and start. The soul of the country is on how its low privilege behaves.

Each time a crisis comes, we hear the word focus and power. We hear how the city returns despite everything. This is not the badge of pride. This is an indispensable reaction to survival. It is tragic that even if a crisis is tearing them, people should be ready to go into their lives without a break. People need help for a long time after the flood is reduced. Many can’t ask. You look around and take part in any way to help them deal with this serious loss.
